Youreadfor.me — 9-Star Rating

Your pizza delivery guy is Arnold Schwarzenegger who brings along his awesome protein shake and gives you tips how to train based on a pizza diet.

I am honest. The 9-Star rating wasn’t invented by Youreadfor.me. It was invented by AirBnb. But they weren’t brave enough to try it. We are.

The Airbnb 9-Star Customer Experience looked like this:

You book your stay and they send you every necessary information in advance and also offer to pick you up. At the airport there is Margot Robbie waiting for you with a limo. He shows you all the awesome spots in the city and has prepared a special dinner with Sly and Arnie. Then arrives a trained pigeon in a tiny mailman costume to deliver a handwritten notification that your dream partner is waiting for you naked in the bedroom. Also there’s a chocolate fountain.

YRFM 9-Star Rating

Acceptable | Excellent | Life Changing

Those are the categories of the 9-Star Rating.

Did you ever experience those retailers on Amazon which sent superfast, packaged safely, had a no complaint return policy and put gummy bears into the box? Yeah. They are awesome. 5-Stars guaranteed.

But there are others. A rare breed of people. Those who make an impression on us and that change our lives forever. Those who are truly inspirational. Which are not from this planet. With their influence they constantly change our lives without them noticing. Because we only can give them 5-Stars.
It doesn’t matter if its the Uber guy who has a Playstation, Snacks and an actual bunny, your local Pizza store which puts in extra effort to deliver a heart-shaped pizza to your girlfriend or boyfriend on Valentines Day or a Youtuber who stages for weeks by traveling and editing for one single perfect video.

On Youreadfor.me we want to value those who constantly overperform.

The amount of effort, dedication and time which is necessary to create extraordinary content is in no relation to the existing 5-Star ratings. Those who simply do the job get rated the same as those wo will put in serious additional energy. That is not fair — and also it is not efficient for us as customers in order to find those constantly overperforming. Of course we could measure metrics like clicks and likes. But isn’t a rating a much more personal interaction? I think it is. I always judge based on ratings, because people actually put in the effort to rate it and maybe also wrote a well thought out or even funny review.

Sometimes I experience extreme good performers on Youtube which are buried under the regular Youtubers. I ask myself, how could I miss this person / channel for the past 3 years? I mean wouldn’t I be interested in knowing those who constantly seriously overperform earlier? I’m sure I want.

How does it work?

Acceptable are the first 3 Stars.
It was sufficient but you have to improve.

Order something from an Online-Shop and the package arrives after a week. Your favorite payment processor wasn’t available but you still got it and the item is also good enough to keep it. At least it is too much effort to send it back.
YRFM Example: Imagine you demand an Audiobook and the Readr records it, but there is some background noise and also he is still unsure of how to pronounce correctly. Still you are able to get the content, support his journey and all that for a good price.

A one star would be if it is so bad that we can not find anything good.

Excellent are the forth to sixth Stars.
I used Youreadfor.me. It worked. The End.

You need a new Laptop and are unsure if your favorite model is the best choice for your needs. You use the chat feature to ask the shop owner. He responds by video answer and gives a short overview over 3 different models which are all in your price range. Both agree that your pick is perfect and the order and shipment is done within 1 day. If you have a problem you can always come back and get help. All in all a great experience.
YRFM Example: You buy an Audiobook from on Youreadfor.me and the Author promises you to learn everything about Rolex watches. The history, the models, it’s quirks and features (like Doug Demouro always says) and his opinion. It has everything in it, additional links to pictures and the storytelling as well as the Readrs voice is simply great. What else do you want if you buy an Audiobook like that? Something is excellent if it has everything. “I love this more than audible — better than expected” ★★★★★★

Life Changing are the seventh to ninth Stars.
Nobody does what these people do.

You are a student with no income and your car breaks down. You go to your local car shop and the owner there looks into it. It costs $1000 to repair. Unfortunately you don’t have that money. You tell him about your situation and he offers you the opportunity to work for him in order to pay for the repair. The experience in working there totally changes your life because instead of breaking with university and get a low paying job you can finish it . The generousity of the owner to enable you to help yourself is not self-evident. But this isn’t about generousity. “When Big colors, he rarely stays in lines.” — Replace Big with the 9-Star-Recipient — that might be a fitting aphorism, if at all.
YRFM Example: Imagine there is a Readr who is now a pensioner and started records Audiobooks for Children because it satisfies him and he can not sit still. His voice is relaxing and calming. Whole generations grow up with him because he is so driven. He always helps new and unkown authors to get traction, recommends them on the platform and has a second account as Amateur Readr so they can afford to hire him. When working he asks if he should bring in his wife as female voice for free. She likes to help out.
There are a lot of these stories out there. Those who are the incarnation of good. Those who do more — those have to be rewarded.

As a platform owner I have the responsibility to find extraordinary talent and to enable them to be creative.

Don’t get me wrong. It will be a huge effort to distinguish 6 stars from 7 stars. And it will be a huge effort to prevent rating-inflation or fake ratings and fake reviews. Constantly controversial. I’m aware about the responsibility to that. But I’m sure the effort is worth it, because we will end up with those people who constantly overperform being rewarded what they rightfully earned. And isn’t that little bit of fairness satisfying in a world that isn’t fair at all?
